What is the RASCI method?

At INBISCO we are close partners with RASCI-Method© and we use the renowned RASCI-Method© as the basis of our software modules. But what exactly is RASCI?

The RASCI Method© is known for its ability to easily create clarity in structuring authorities and responsibilities within an entire organization. The principle of the RASCI method is that every employee within an organization has certain roles, tasks and responsibilities in a process that must be carried out. In this, one employee can be responsible for the execution of a certain process and another employee must be kept informed of this. With RASCI, however, you ensure that these roles are clearly indicated and structured so that everyone always knows what their tasks are and can successfully carry out and monitor them.
RASCI is the abbreviation for the following division of roles:
Responsible 
Accountable 
Supporting 
Consulted 
Informed

The RASCI Model

The RASCI Model means that for each process within your organization, the division of roles is clearly indicated and everyone knows what their tasks are within this process. In this way, the RASCI Model combines the description of a process and the responsibilities that belong to each step within this process. In this way, the objective and the area of ​​application are indicated in a very compact way for each process, and all associated steps and decisions are linked to the RASCI roles as explained above.
Of course, this does not mean that people should think in boxes and only perform their own tasks. That is why it is often emphasized that communication and cooperation are extremely important in every process. By means of the RASCI model, you can prevent miscommunication or ambiguity and processes can be carried out more streamlined and you can optimize your processes. With the RASCI Model, you can ultimately improve your organization by creating control and transparency over what your employees do in the execution. This makes the RASCI Method the ideal basis for effective process management.

As mentioned before, we at INBISCO are close partners with RASCI- Method©. Not only is the RASCI Method the basis for our process management module ‘the Process Manager’, the RASCI specialists also support us in implementing our software.

RASCI & Process Management 

RASCI is extremely suitable for use as a starting point within process management. Process management ensures that you have complete control over the content and structure of each business process within your company. Many organizations often overlook the fact that many aspects they encounter can always be traced back to problems or ambiguities in the initial process. The combination of process management and RASCI is therefore very useful, because you can record the roles of all employees involved in processes in such a detailed and structured manner.
This all sounds very nice, of course, but often the application of RASCI to your business processes is done in gigantic, confusing Excel lists and over the years you naturally build up a lot of process information… We do not want this chaos, because it only creates more ambiguity. Our Process Manager module has been created to clearly map out and structure all processes within an organization. Because you create control over your processes with effective process management, you know exactly where potential problems lie, you can adjust or rewrite your processes when possible and ultimately improve your processes. This way you get optimally running processes and you can save a lot of time and effort by avoiding ambiguities and miscommunication. RASCI helps us with this by clearly recording the tasks of each employee per process.

This creates transparency, structure and insight, prevents ambiguity and employees can always easily find all information about their tasks and roles.
