A talk with Merel van den Doel

At the beginning of this year we were welcome at Merel van den Doel; QHSE-coordinator at Matrans at the Rotterdam terminal. Merel shared how she got to know INBISCO, implemented it and used it in the daily operations at the terminal.

With whom do we have the pleasure?

My name is Merel van den Doel and I have been QHSE coordinator at Matrans at the Rotterdam terminal for two years now, where we carry out a wide range of activities every day. As a multi-purpose terminal in the port of Rotterdam, we are constantly on the move.

How did you end up at INBISCO?

In our QHSE department, where we focus on quality matters, health, welfare, safety and compliance, we lacked a QHSE quality management system. That’s why we chose INBISCO. This helped us to set up our quality management system and to work in a structured way

How did you ensure employee engagement?

To increase the involvement of our employees, we have developed a mini-training. We brought small groups together to explain our system to them in an interactive way. We didn’t just focus on the technical aspects, but especially on the goal and the benefits for themselves. This approach ensured that the employees understood the system better and the enthusiasm increased.

Many of your colleagues work outside, how do they use INBISCO?

Our outdoor workers regularly come across products with damage. They report this damage directly via the INBISCO app. We have made it as accessible as possible, so that employees can report quickly and easily. Our motto is: “”Report within a minute.”” This boosts reporting and increases safety in the workplace.

How do you experience the use of the system?

Fortunately, INBISCO’s system is very user-friendly. We can make adjustments to the IRIS (Item Registration & Information System), the processmanager and the RAS (Risk Assessment System).

This allows us to respond quickly to feedback from our employees from different departments, such as operations and customer service. This promotes engagement, as employees see that their ideas and improvements are applied immediately, without the need for external consultancy.

With the implementation of INBISCO, we have not only improved our quality management system, but also strengthened collaboration and communication within our team. It’s great to see how everyone is involved and contributes to a safer and more efficient work environment.
